Shin Splints How To Relieve The Pain

The pain from Shin Splints can be excruciating. Worse than that until they have been treated the activity that caused the pain will need to be curtailed.

Having to tell a die hard runner that they will have to stop running until the problem has been resolved is not an easy one.

The last thing a runner wants to do is stop running! But unfortunately that really is the best treatment.

Other things you can try are

  1. Check your running shoes make sure they are correctly fitted and were designed to do the job.
  2. Make sure you stretch properly after every run.
  3. Try running on grass or a more giving surface instead of the road.
  4. See a physiotherapist / Massage Therapist and get yourself some expert advice.
  5. Wait until you have been cleared by your health professional before you start running again.
  6. When you have the all clear start gradually and build up your pace and distance over time.
